Evaluation of Calcium Ion Transport Number through a Cation Exchange Membrane By Chronopotentiometry

In this research work, the transport properties of calcium ions (Ca2+) in a heterogeneous cation exchange membrane (IEM) MK-40 Schekinoazot. Aqueous solutions sodium chloride (NaCl) and (CaCl2) 0.01 M 0.02 concentration, respectively, were used. The limit current density numbers evaluated by means chronopotentiometry technique, applying electric pulses, obtaining potential differences, from which chronopotentiograms obtained. Then, plots difference variation with respect to time constructed find transition time. A linear fit square inverse was performed based on modified Sand equation determine Ca2+ number. results showed solution are 0.976 0.437, respectively. limiting also found for both membrane-solution systems. We conclude that is an accurate fast technique determination ion number systems consisting membranes electrolyte solutions.
